Nice shots of the WMATA. How do those automated trains run, are they smooth?
After the accident, all trains are manual ops. Having been on trains before and after, this is what I think:
The automatic ones are very smooth, fast, and efficient. They are certainly better than the manual ones, whose operators often make minor mistakes like missing the marker. I went there in July, a month after all-manual ops began. Sometimes, the operator would stop the train, then make an announcement "the train will be moving forward", and jerk the train forward. It's not smooth at all. Speeds were reduced too, outside of the accident zone. I think by now, it's better as the operators get experience.
