I would think they would cut all express service first if they were going to be that extreme.
All Shuttle Services are suspended.
All trains run local.  I wonder how they would pull that off though personally.

well first they'd raise the fare to $5..

well first they'd raise the fare to $5..

And when they impliment the toll fees for the bronx-harlem crossings force their own train drives to pay toll fares as well on the Hell Gate Bridge and Broadway bridge. Since they are big loads lets say about..... $81. Why 81? Cause train operators make $26.99/hr and they probably won't be back that way with the train for 3 hours. So you make it you spend it. Thats why local bus and subway fare is gunna raise the current minimum wage of $7.15 a trip!

About the Service cuts, you can't blame Paterson for voting against a bailout for the MTA. The MTA can't handle money well and we can't just keep giving the MTA money whenever they mess up, or else they'll just use up all the money again. I mean, seriously, the MTA had all this money, got themselves into debt and even while they're debt, they keep buying and doing these expensive projects.  Even Hermmerdinger implied the MTA sucks up money. He said on the news something about how "the MTA has no books on their debt and how much they're in." But are they really that far in debt that they can't even keep track of their money. In almost everyone's, including mine, opinion, they believe the fares should not be raised but it's almost like the MTA can't be trusted with money. If the MTA were to get bailed out now, they'd probably go pay off their debts, then go straight back into debt with all these ridiculous plans like the Fulton Street Center, the Javits Center Extension, Elevators and Escalators, Hot Dog Mosaics at Coney Island, R188/R179, These 100 of the demo buses that never go in permanent service etc.  The MTA needs to show that they know how to hold money in their hands before the govt can put billions of dollars in their hands.

P.S., Albany's CDTA raised their fares too.

We can only hope that the MTA finds a surplus in their budget like the last time they raised fairs.  It is our only hope because Patterson sure as hell seems to block bailouts to the MTA.  But yet again, why are we not being "bailed out"?

Bottomline: MTA because don't get money because the state doesn't trust them with money.
The state thinks the MTA is gonna take the billions of the government's money and waste it. Like they have done plenty of time.
