Version 1.0.0.9 (2007-08-29): - Fixed a problem with the version checking. Previously, if the BVE.exe was of different size than expected, the tool would still run. Version 1.0.0.8 (2007-08-29): - Fixed the problem that occured with aspect ratios other than 4:3 when parts of the cab became occluded (16:10) or transparent (5:4). The aspect ratio can now be chosen at will. Version 1.0.0.5 (2007-08-27): - This was the very first official release. Allowed the change of resolutions only.

What this program is for
------------------------
BVE 4 provides two options for displaying: Using window mode in 640x480 or using fullscreen mode in either 640x480, 800x600 or 1024x768. It does not let you set up any other resolutions. If you have a widescreen monitor for instance, you can either play the game in a small window of 640x480 or have your picture be stretched horizontally in fullscreen mode, because most monitors and graphics cards do not maintain aspect ratio. If you have an LCD with 5:4 aspect ratio, your image will be squashed likewise. If you have a display with a resolution of 1600x1200 and wanted to use that to play, BVE does not let you. This program lets you choose any resolution for window and fullscreen mode, so you can enjoy higher resolutions, widescreen resolutions or have a bigger window in window mode.

How to use it?

Place the BVE4ResolutionChanger.exe in the same directory as BVE.exe and run BVE4ResolutionChanger.exe. The tool will validate if your BVE.exe is version 4.2.1947.25355 and create a backup of that file called BVE4ResolutionChangerBackup.dat when run for the first time. You can restore the original BVE.exe at any time by using the 'Restore' button. You can set up the resolutions you want for window mode and for fullscreen mode independently. Click the patch button and your BVE.exe will be patched to use the resolutions you entered. You can also patch and run the game directly. To use window mode, just select it from BVE's Display Mode Configuration dialog. To use fullscreen mode, choose fullscreen mode from BVE's dialog and then be sure to select "Custom" from the list where previously was "640 x 480".

What do I have to pay attention for?
------------------------------------
If you want to run BVE in widescreen resolutions like 1680x1050 (16:10) or narrower LCD resolutions like 1280x1024 (5:4), be sure you choose the correct aspect ratio from the list or enter your own. If you do not do so, the upper and lower parts of the cab will become occluded for widescreen resolutions, or there will be additional transparent areas above and below the cab for narrower resolutions.
